Peter is responsible for day-to-day management at the Antwerp-based auction house that bears his name. It is a genuine family business because, besides his parents, his brother Christophe also works for the company. By giving guest lectures at Flemish universities and working on TV programmes such as Schatten op zolder (Cash in the Attic), Peter has almost become the spokesperson for the art trade.
He talks passionately and enthusiastically as he offers a behind-the-scenes look at an auction house, which people can also visit. He also talks about new trends in the art trade, the future and whether art is affordable for the general public.
Peter Bernaerts presents a strong story, which reflects his passion for his field. He also debunks clichés and prejudices about the job of auctioneer. Once you have heard him speak, your curiosity will be piqued and you will want to immediately visit an auction house.
