Who is Jochanan Eynikel?

Jochanan Eynikel is a business philosopher at the think-tank of the entrepreneurial forum ETION. He works as a researcher, writer and speaker on topics at the intersection of ethics, economics and philosophy. Jochanan holds master's degrees in philosophy (KU Leuven and University of Stellenbosch, ZA) and audiovisual journalism (Erasmus University College Brussels).

In early 2017, his book Robot at the Wheel. On the Ethics of Technology was published by LannooCampus. In 2018, his debut book was shortlisted for the 'Management Book of the Year'. In March 2020, his second book, Check-In. In search of meaning and significance in companies (LannooCampus), which was also shortlisted for the 2021 Management Book of the Year. His book Moral Intuition on how to deal with ethical dilemmas in organisations will be published in 2025.

Jochanan is a frequent speaker at home and abroad. He has spoken at TEDxBrussels, TEDxKUL, Pepsico, Gartner, Deloitte, Vlerick Business School, KU Leuven, VRT, Pharma.be, Colruyt Group and many more. As a facilitator, he also coaches teams and leaders on business ethics and the development of a value-driven corporate culture.

    Technological innovation drives economic progress and social change. But technology is not always value-neutral. Technology influences our behaviour, our thinking and sometimes even our moral views about what is possible and what is not. There is an ethics behind technology. With the breakthrough of artificial intelligence (AI), the moral questions surrounding intelligent and autonomous technology are also increasing. To what extent do we allow ourselves to be controlled by algorithms? What does creativity mean in the age of generative AI? How do we get intelligent machines to take human values into account? More than ever, we need to think about the moral aspects of the AI revolution. In this keynote, Jochanan Eynikel examines the AI revolution through a technomoral lens. What are the main ethical challenges of AI and digitalisation, and how can we deal with them as a society?     But how do you make good moral choices in organisations? In this keynote, business philosopher Jochanan Eynikel looks at how to deal with difficult moral choices in organisations. Looking beyond the rational approach of charters, codes and compliance, he also emphasises the role of 'intuitive knowing' in moral decision-making. Ethics is a matter of the heart as well as the head, even in the workplace.
