Who is Chantal Smedts?

‘Everyone leader’ is what Chantal believes in. You can take charge of your own life by the choices you make in life. It's not just about making decisions, but also about taking responsibility for those decisions. When you can manage your inner management, it has an empowering effect on the leadership you bring to the outside world. Conscious inner management is about leading yourself and taking responsibility for your own life, as well as setting goals and boundaries more effectively. For 16 years, Chantal has been coaching leaders to discover this unique strength within themselves and, as a result, become stronger in their roles, both in their businesses and in their personal lives. As a Master Certified coach and trainer, Chantal has over 4900 hours of experience.

In her keynotes, she also draws on her more than 30 years of experience as an entrepreneur and uses personal stories and practical tips to prove that inner management pays off. Chantal has already published several books on the topic of leadership, based on the development of inner management. Her book ‘Become who you really want to be’, which she wrote together with Anneliese Monden, even found its way to the Chinese market. Her most recent publication is titled ‘The little book of big ideas, 52 quotes for leaders.’ Chantal has been invited as an expert in several podcasts and also created one herself with the provocative title ‘I don't have time for this... ’. In 20 minutes each time, she talks about topics for which leaders would be better off making time.

    There is no such thing as time management

    Do you regularly wonder where the day has gone already? Are you always too busy, yet feel like you don't get anything done? You are simply dealing with time wasters. This keynote will help you master time. In this session, we do more than give useful tips. There are already enough courses for that. More important: we will give you insight into time, and how you experience time. You will explore the reasons for procrastination and distraction and learn to prioritise. By breaking thought patterns about time and time deficiency, you learn to look differently at the minutes and hours you have available to be productive. This way, the clock becomes your ally, not a stressor.

A keynote that gives practical tips to increase trust, and strengthen each individual's inner management.

    Become your own leader

    Ever since Descartes' famous statement, “je pense, donc je suis” (I think, therefore I am), we have been a bit deformed. Our rational thinking became so important that everyone flew in their heads. We mapped the universe, dissected the human body, great philosophers were born, high intellectual discussions were held, ... But we overlooked one thing: that a human being is much more than his upper chamber alone. That there is also such a thing as the heart, intuition. The more we used our head, the more we lost sight of our body and our feelings. Consequence: our head almost explodes from all the information we have to process at a rapid pace and along all sides at once. We are tired-discussed and tired-reasoning. An unpleasant feeling of emptiness creeps up on us. This feeling is exacerbated by the high expectations we let others, society and ourselves impose on us. We want a diploma, a well-paying job, a warm family, three trips a year, a fitness subscription, a marathon medal, and if possible at least twice a week at a restaurant. We run, run, run, fulfil five roles at once, and we are so hard at it that we gradually lose ourselves in the delusion of the day. Before we know it, we are living only to fulfil all kinds of expectations, the basis of which we have long since lost track of who or what is behind them. We are no longer at the wheel of our own lives. We are being lived. During this keynote, Chantal describes the importance of inner management. Using practical and real-life examples, she explains why ‘I am’ and ‘I do’ are connected. In a lively and clear way, she takes you into her story of trial and error and lets you experience the power of inner management.
