Who is Ann Maes?

A new generation of ‘winners’ is taking over the arena. They are companies, entrepreneurs and organisations that are able to seemingly attract talent, attention and resources with ease. People who look at them from a traditional perspective will find it difficult to categorise them. They cannot be classed as ‘profit’ because they focus on society. But they cannot be classed as ‘non-profit’ either because profit actually plays an important role. These new winners practice entrepreneurship that aims to help reinforce society. They combine ‘better for me + better for the world’ and play a unique game: The Positive Sum Game. The arrival of these new players has restructured the commercial arena into a continuum. A new world has thus developed between, and on the boundaries of, profit and non-profit.

Ann has established an international career by building and protecting the reputation of people, brands and organisations. As managing director and hands-on reputation strategist, she works for world renowned and very small brands - with passion, conviction and curiosity. She is motivated to use enterprise and organisation to build a more stable society. Her book, which is called The Positive Sum Game and was written together with her partner Herman Toch, shows how profit and purpose can interact positively to everyone's benefit.

  • Attention

    Management
    HR & Wellbeing

Attract and maintain attention. All companies, brands or organisations must do this if they want to flourish. Hefty budgets, manpower and external help: every trick in the book is being used these days. The result? The rate of success continues to decrease. But how can you turn the tide? How do you make your employees, network and customers enthusiastic once again?

The most important thing is to play a new game: The Positive Sum Game. It not only offers you benefits, but also to society in general. The new out-performers in the market have already mastered it. How do you play this game and what are the advantages? Ann uses 8 steps to show you how to play the Positive Sum Game.

  • There is nothing sexier than Purpose

    Management

During this motivational talk, Ann addresses people, organisations and companies about their sense of Purpose. Purpose appeals to people's inner motivation. It adds meaning to people's (working) lives. It makes people more positive about going to work. Purpose makes them more committed, creative and collaborative. In short: Purpose helps people to ‘flourish’. Ann explains where Purpose and profit meet in a Positive Sum Game: a game where better for me + better for the world join forces.

Purpose is also a fantastic tool for organisations and companies. Purpose has yet another benefit: it attracts talent, attention and resources. Purpose is a powerhouse, but cannot survive in its own right. It must be integrated into business models, value chains and the way in which companies and organisations work. Anyone that rises to the challenge, can expect certain benefits.
