Who is Luk Dewulf?

Luk studied Educational Sciences and is a pioneer of talent-based thinking in Belgium and the Netherlands. His book, called Ik kies voor mijn talent (I opt for my talent), is being published for the 22nd time and his ideas are widespread in the world of education and business. In addition, he is the author of Help! Mijn batterijen lopen leeg (Help! My batteries are draining), which is a book about burnout and was voted the best Learning & Development book in 2012 He is a fluent speaker who always touches the audience and gets them thinking. He is also a talent whisperer and a talent and burnout coach.

Besides writing new publications, he spends a lot of time presenting lectures about talent and burnout at home and abroad. In addition, he has worked with partners to develop the online tool www.mytalentbuilder.com, which is used in many large organisations in Belgium and the Netherlands. Furthermore, he is jointly responsible for establishing a network of ‘child talent whisperers’. They are professionals who teach people to have talent-related discussions with children, so that they can then organise such discussions free of charge annually in their own municipality or surroundings. Individuals, schools and cities have all joined this movement. The movement is also taking off in Curaçao, Bonaire and South Africa.

    Stop burn-out!

    Why do people suddenly feel a huge drop in energy before they are about to go to work? What is a burnout? What is the difference between burnout and depression? Based on his book, Help! Mijn batterijen lopen leeg (Help! My batteries are draining), Luk Dewulf explains energy loss and burnout, how you can recognise the danger zone of a burnout and, in particular, how you can prevent a burnout.

    This lecture addresses burnout from a talent-oriented, relational and systemic perspective. Because burnout is not the problem of a single individual. Very often, it also relates to other people.

    I opt for my talent: aimed at teachers and parents

    Doesn’t everyone want happy and self-assured children? But how can you help as a parent, teacher, educator, etc.? “By utilising the talents of children”, says Luk. “Focus on their passions and what they are good at, instead of looking for areas where they could improve. After all, no one is perfect.”

    Luk’s lecture is based on his book, Ik kies voor mijn talent (I opt for my talent). He examines what talent is. How you can discover and recognise talent at a young age. How parents or teachers can create a context where each talent is noticed and challenged. Because by doing what you are good at, you are not only able to constantly recharge your batteries, but also to create a positive self-image, greater resilience and self confidence. Luk Dewulf also talks about skills that are needed to maximise the potential of talent. And what you can do about areas in which a child or youngster does not do well.

    My boss opts for my talent: aimed at organisations

    Happy employees and fantastic results. That is the focus of this lecture by Luk Dewulf. The lecture is based on the eponymous book: Mijn baas kiest voor mijn talent (My boss opts for my talent). What is talent? What is the difference between ‘talent’ and ‘talent in action’? How can you discover your own talent? How do you develop it? Which skills can you learn in order to make the most of your talent? And what can you do about areas in which you really do not excel? How can you take responsibility for your results by being yourself? Luk Dewulf tells a fascinating story with many specific examples and illustrations.

The presentation by Luk Dewulf and the testimonial by Chris Van den Abeele were met with great enthusiasm. Both speakers received a healthy 8 out of 10 during our evaluation among around 65 people. We were thus very pleased with the performances. Luk's humour and Chris's warmth ensured that everyone listened attentively for over 2 hours and many people said that their presentation had been really valuable.
