    A trip though the history of the police force, based on the stories of legendary ‘cops’. Christian starts his story with the first ‘police force’ in Ancient Greece and Imperial Rome. He then uses a real-life murder case to introduce the audience to Gabriel Nicolas de la Reynie, the first modern police commissioner. He also talks about Eugène Vidocq, the French criminal who became a top detective, and Alphonse Bertillon, who invented the first police laboratory in the 19th century.
    But he also dedicates time to fictional sleuths like Sherlock Holmes, Witse and Hercule Poirot. And the lecture also has room for Wyatt Earp, the sheriff who survived the ‘Gunfight at the O.K. Corral’.
