Who is Ruben Van Gucht?

He is a well-known face on programmes such as Sportweekend, De Kleedkamer, Extra Time Koers and De Zevende Dag. He also presents a Saturday morning breakfast show called De Weekwatchers on Radio 2. He has written books about Johan Museeuw and Bernard Hinault, as well as the Grote Sporza Quizboek (Big Sporza Quiz Book) and Sportman (Sportsman), a book with various anecdotes he has come across over the years.

    Bronze Belgians: the Red Devils at the World Cup

    The World Cup in Russia will forever be remembered as the one when the Red Devils came third for the first time. The summer of 2018 was unique; one with a bronze lining and a packed Grand Place in Brussels. Belgium was in ecstasy; the streets were empty and the squares were full. But exactly how did things go in Russia? How was the story experienced over there? And what are the lasting memories, so long after the event? Ruben Van Gucht was one of those who witnessed it all first-hand. Wherever the Red Devils went, Ruben Van Gucht was there too. As a reporter for the VRT, Ruben spent every day next to training pitches, speaking to players and trainers, observing the action during matches, braving the dressing rooms and travelling in the wake of our national football team. Naturally, this means he has many tales to tell.
