Christel Van Dyck

Who is Christel Van Dyck?
As a teenager, Christel was fascinated by literature and poetry. This passion caused her to spend several years studying diction and recitation and to enter poetry competitions. That was her first introduction to the stage and being face-to-face with an audience. She studied at the KUL, where she obtained a master's degree in art sciences and a postgraduate degree in audiovisual communication sciences.
Christel Van Dyck started in 1985 as a newsreader and editorial assistant at Studio Brussel. She then moved to Radio2 in Limburg for programmes such as Op zoek naar Oscar, Het Eerste Bedrijf and Mag het iets meer zijn. At the end of the 1980s, she also appeared on BRT1 in the youth programme Klim op together with Ben Crabbé. And later on TV1 with Kwislijn. In 1993, she appeared on Radio2 in Antwerp as the successor to Lutgart Simoens in Vragen staat vrij. Together with Filip Pletinckx, she presented Met Twee, the first horizontal national programme on Radio2. She subsequently presented programmes such as Huisraad and De zevende hemel.
Apart from radio, Christel was also a frequent guest on programmes such as De Drie Wijzen and Jan Publiek. She played guest roles in Witse and Stille Waters and also featured in Vlaanderen Vakantieland. Christel hosted De Eregalerij 16 times from 2003 to 2019 in which Belgian artists were lauded for their music and careers. From 2008 to 2014, she hosted the popular Saturday morning block with the programme En nu serieus, first with Luk Alloo and then alternately with Jan Verheyen and Michaël Pas. Afterwards, Christel made the successful Radio2 programme De Rotonde on Sunday morning for seven years in which she had a two-hour conversation with a well-known person from all fields about their choices in life. Since 2021, she presented the programme Senses on Radio2.
For Radio2 she also made the podcast De Spiegel in recent years, and in addition to her work at VRT there were many other presentation assignments for Kom op tegen kanker, the Boekenbeurs, Boektopia and various corporate events. For several years she was president of the Boekenleeuw and the Boekenpauw, two important awards for children's literature, where she also presented the award ceremony each time.
