As a child, he thought he would later become a pig farmer. Yep, a pig farmer. He would wear boots, and a blue dust jacket, to survey the yard early every morning. But things could change. He did not wear a dust jacket, but he did wear a tight racing suit. And boots did not prove handy on the road bike he rode around the world for 13 years as a professional cyclist: from China to Canada to Australia. But he never forgot the yard where he grew up. From that old dream, he has kept a down-to-earth farmer's mind. And the urge, the desire, to make something of every day. The racing suit has since been swapped for jeans, his two energetic sons wear hoodies and his beautiful, ambitious wife is always stylish. That trio is central to his life. A new life in which he strives to strike an appropriate balance with all that comes his way as an analyst, speaker, ambassador,...Whether in a pigsty, in a peloton or in the office: with a mix of authenticity, honesty and responsibility, he hopes to inspire people. That is his mission. Inspire. As a former athlete, he knows the importance of positivity and bubbling energy, and knows that nothing beats the flag going down and the new adventure beckoning.
